SERVICE LEARNING AT BATAM! CIP WORK + CAMP! day 1, 120310: went to school as per normal only that i went with my big backpack! after reading period, had some talks bla bla bla... when everyone was dismissed to their classes, we the UGs with our bick backpack went to foyer and assemble in our groups. I was in Group 3. there was a tottel of 6 Groups. In Group 3 there are: Theary (leader), Abigail, Wen Sheng, Yi Sheng, Davin Ng, Ding Xian and me, Nadhirah. at foyer we started distrubuting the shoes that we are going to give to the school students. after that shoes distribution, we head to the bus and buzzed off to the Ferry Terminal @ Harbourfront. skip skip skip.... when we reached Batam, we did some "shopping" the girls followed both Ms Lee and the guys followed Miss Hor and Miss Chan. the girls "shop" for the foods that we think we want to eat for the 3days, for breakfast, teabreak and supper. the guys "shop" for 1.5litre bottles. BUT actually, the guys just need to help to carry those cuttons of 1.5litre bottles and the girls actually did not "shop" for most of the foods, it was both Ms Lee that choose most of the foods. Ms Jane Lee even bought 1 cutton of apples and if i'm not wrong, 1 cutton of bananas too. while we did those "shopping" me, Hammadah, Azra and Min Wei went to shop for our torch lights. since they told us that we really need it and we didn't have it, so why not buy at Batam right.. :) after that "shopping" we headed to our campsite @ Rumah Doa Bukit Karmel Berelang. on the way to our campsite, i slept at Ding Xian's shoulder. when we reached our campsite, we had our lunch and we "check in" to our hut. from the campsite, we depart to the school, Asrama Santa Theresia. we did what we could do for that day since it was already almost late and it was raining. 1st, we choose what we wanted to do as a group. 1 group did the mosquito netting for the windows, 2 groups did the pavement thing and the remaining 3 groups did the water filtration drum. what i did was, i managed to wash the sand half way coz after a while Banji told me to help in the washing of the gravels. By 1600+ (Batam time) we packed up and head back to our campsite. when we return to campsite, we washed up and had our dinner. after our dinner we had a reflection time with our own groups, supper and finally lights out at 2300 (Batam time). day 2, 130310: Assemble at 0700 (Batam time) and had our breakfast. After that head to the Asrama Santa Teresia, did our CIP task. for today, we have to finish up all our work on what we have started coz if not tomorrow we will not have any shopping time. so guess what?! WE MANAGED TO MADE THE PAVEMENT, THE MOSQUITO NETTINGS AND FINALLY THE WATER FILTRATION BRUM IS UP! Nishanth went up and did some stuff. I'm not shure what coz I didn't followed him and Adha. on this day, we really started to have a great bonding, even with outher UGs. while we were doing our CIP task, the one with clean hands or had washed their hands clean, went around to feed us with biscuits :) sweet right.. haha i know. during lunch we took turns to eat since we do not want our shopping time to be taken. and during lunch also, the Non-Muslims got to know why we Muslims can't touch dogs and if we touched, what we should and need to do. so when we were having our lunch, they helped us blocked the dogs. blocked the dogs from getting near us. At about 1600+ (Batam time) we packed up and head back to our campsite. we wash up, pack most of our stuff, had dinner and had our CAMPFIRE!! haha guess what, MY GROUP WON 1ST PRICE FOR THE CHEERS AND "SKITS"! GROUP 3 = AWAS! Awas means be carefull. We named our group as AWAS because thanks to Theary we had those idea. because...on the first day at the Asrama Santa Theresia, she bang her head at a metal thing that the kids used as their bell for their "school bell". Lights off was at 2300 but my hut off the lights at 2300 (Singapore time). coz we pack up our stuffs so the next day do not need to rush and pack up :) day 3, 140310: THE LAST DAY AT BATAM! rise and shine, had breakfast, time for reflection, took attendance per UG, given time to pack up and load everything up the bus! went to Asrama Santa Theresia for a while to give some foods that we didn't ate. we gave milks, biscuits and muffins! =.=" we were supposed to give them apples not muffins! but Adha excedintally gave out all the miffins coz no one informed him that we were wanted to give apples, so it was not his fault he just grabbed what was near him and what he can reached. the cutton of apples was at the back, so none of us remembered that we were supposed to give those apples. so end up, each of us need to bring back at least an apple. From that school we head to the Ferry Terminal place and to do some shopping for ourself. On the way there, the whole journey i slept on Ding Xian's shoulder. I didnt bought anyting much since most of the things are expensive. So I just bought a shirt for myself and my younger sister, Hammadah also bought a shirt for herself. Ate at KFC with Richo, Hammadah, Azra, Min Wei and Velerie. In the ferry sat with Richo and Hammadah. behind us, were Wen Sheng, Azra and Davin. we ate donut!! haha. nearly reached Singapore, Richo bought for me and Hammadah "POP MEGI" its a kind of instand noodles. it was really delicious, really kinda different than the meggi that we have in Singapore. skip skip skip... reached school, our bus block the road and caused a mini jam outside our school. fall in at the foyer into our sizes of t-shirt. gave out our t-shirts, took some pictures and gave our booklet to Mr Yong. went to NP for dinner and home sweet home! It was really a great good experience I had. Love those 3 days of the CIP & SERVICE LEARNING DAY. (altough there were some miss understanding about "something") We really had a great bonding and a really kinda fast bonding. Not gonna earased those memories :) btw, thanks Ding Xian for your shoulder:)(sorry, don't jealous ah DX gf, incase ur jealous) deedee
